Class Descriptions

Snuggle and sing with your baby as you experience a sensory rich music class together. Class activities bring the joy of music and movement to babies and their caregivers, and include bouncing and patting games, rocking and singing activities, dancing, and playing simple instruments such as drums, shakers, and more as we develop an aural environment which nurtures pitch, rhythm, and musical awareness.  Moms, dads, and other caregivers will enjoy experiencing the sensory rich and nurturing environment with their babies.  Activities are developmentally appropriate and are based on current research about brain and cognitive development, and promote bonding and fun with your baby.

 * Family Discount:  First child pays full tuition; subsequent children pay discounted tuition. Siblings under 6 months may participate in older sibling classes at no additional fee. **Siblings enrolled alone in Family Music pay this discounted tuition.
Make-up Policy: Tuition takes into account the fact that children get sick and may have to miss a class or two from time to time.  We do offer opportunities to makeup classes missed; please email or call to join an existing class as space allows or to sign up for our occasional makeup classes.  Drop-in make-ups are not available at this time.
Cancellation Policy: Students are enrolled continuously in our entire summer, to allow parents a dependable schedule.  Please let us know at least 2 weeks in advance of withdrawing from future 4 week sessions. We regret that no refunds will be given during a 4 week session.

Family Music is a class designed for the entire family. Music education is emphasized with activities including singing, focused listening, playing simple instruments, as well as creative and purposeful movement. We play simple music games and learn simple circle and folk dances, and explore a wide variety of instruments and sounds. Children enjoy being with children of various ages, and parents learn how to modify activities in developmentally appropriate ways for the unique age characteristics of each child.  Please note that a registration is required for all children attending the class, and that only two adults per family is permitted at this time.

Children and their parents/caregivers will enjoy a variety of musical activities, imaginative play, and creative movement  that encourage child and family participation while sparking musical and overall growth.  Class activities include purposeful and creative movement, focused listening, dancing, instrument play, and more.

Our Making Music classes bridge the gap between our younger classes and piano studies.  This summer, we will sing, dance and creatively move, play instruments and build musical ensembles, and even compose music with graphic notation!  Perfect for new and returning students in our Making Music classes.  This is a drop-off class.

This exploratory level piano class is for children with no piano experience. Piano readiness activities, drumming, dances, creative movement, and basic music literacy will set a strong base, and piano skills will be explored on both pianos and keyboard percussion instruments. A great class for this Fall’s new piano students!

Reinforce essential musical skills and learn fun songs with recorder this summer!  From pitch and rhythm to melody and music reading, learning the recorder will expand your musical knowledge and provide a solid foundation for future band or orchestra study.

Expand guitar and ukulele skills with fun camp songs as we enjoy community music making with friends! Previous experience on ukulele or guitar needed; instruments available for checkout on a limited basis.

Create a musical performance with friends new and old!  Children will write dialogue, design and build simple costumes and set, and put together a mini musical that reflects their interests.  Performance will be the last week of classes at 10:30am.
